Dr. Anil K. Khandelwal, is a celebrated thought leader who transformed one of India's largest Public Sector Bank into a truly Global Brand in just three years. Earlier, as the Chairman and Managing Director of Dena Bank for a brief period of one year (2004), he effectively turned around the bank and put it back from the state of decline onto a growth trajectory. He is known for his bold, visionary and transformational Leadership in the corporate world.

His brand of leadership focuses on initiating long term foundational steps, what he terms as "intangibles" such as human resources, Leadership, customer centricity, technology, ethical governance, speed and brand building. Bank of Baroda turnaround story from a staid entity to a global brand, is a classic example where he used intangibles to double the business of the bank in just three years and readied the bank in a manner, that his investment in intangibles continue to double the business every three years. HR Trailblazer
Dr. Khandelwal has been a crusader of HRD in the country and has significantly contributed as an author, researcher, thinker and practitioner. He authored the first book on HRD in Banks. He was also invited as a UNDP Consultant on HRD by the Banking Reforms Commission, Government of Tanzania. For a brief period, he was visiting Professor at the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, Philippines. He has been Chairman of Academy of HRD and a visiting faculty at IIM Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru as well as IIT Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon and many leading academic institutions. He has addressed Wharton India Economic Forum and Commonwealth Business Council. He has been a Keynote Speaker in various national and international conferences. For his seminal contribution to the field of HRD, the National HRD Network honoured him with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

Awards & Government Recognition
For his Contribution & Excellence in the Financial services industry, Dr. Khandelwal has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by The Asian Banker, Singapore - the only Indian Banker to be recognized so far. He was recognized as amongst the top 100 Most Powerful CEOs of India by Economic Times - for every consecutive year of his tenure (2005-2008). He was also awarded among the Top 10 Marketeers of India for his rebranding initiative in Bank of Baroda.

In the year 2009, Government of India appointed a committee to look at the HR issues of the public sector banks, under the chairmanship of Dr. Anil Khandelwal. The committee made seminal recommendations to improve HR in public sector banks. The committee is popularly known as the 'Khandelwal Committee' and is often quoted for initiating reforms in PSBs. Later, in 2011-12, he was appointed Chairman of advisory group on HRD by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

He also worked as member of high powered Advisory group appointed by Ministry of Coal, Power and renewable Energy, Government of India.

He has been on the Board of several companies and has contributed significantly to raise the standards of Corporate Governance.
